Recently, the Baotou Central School of Public Health Labor and Health Department researchers published papers, aimed antioxidant effects of curcumin on nanoscale silicon dioxide (nm-SiO2) dust-induced lung injury in rats. Research indicates that curcumin can fight the process of oxidative damage in rats and alleviate oxidative damage caused by the nano-silicon dioxide dust. This article was published in the 2014 Journal of 03 "Baotou Medical College."

Wistar male rats were randomly assigned into negative control group, model group and curcumin, medium and low dose groups of 10. Intratracheal perfusion 1 nanometer silicon dioxide suspension (15 mg / 100 g) copy lung injury model in rats, curcumin respectively 200,100,50 mg / kg ยท d to 2 d in rats after modeling gavage, take animal blood, liver, lung tissue was measured four weeks after oxidative damage, the other to take the production side of the lung tissue pathology.

Body weight of rats in the model group than that in negative control group (P <0.05), lung coefficient is higher than the negative control group (P <0.01). Curcumin body weight of rats in each dose group were higher than model group (P <0.05); compared with the negative control group, model group, serum, lung tissue, liver tissue superoxide dismutase (superoxide dismutase, SOD) activity , glutathione peroxidase (glutathione peroxidase, GSH-Px) activity and total antioxidant capacity (total-antioxide capacity, T-AOC) was significantly lower (P <0.01), MDA (malondialdehyde, MDA) content increased (P <0.05); compared with the model group, serum, lung tissue, liver tissue homogenate decrease MDA content; pairwise comparison of each dose group, MDA content difference was statistically significant (P lung homogenates < 0.05); with increasing doses of curcumin, a dose-response relationship. Wherein the serum, lung tissue, liver tissue SOD activity, GSH-Px activity and T-AOC content showed an increasing trend, MDA content showed a downward trend.
