Silicon dioxide is widely used, it is an important raw material to manufacture optical fiber. How to measure silicon dioxide content in manganese ore? There are many ways of measuring manganese ore silica content, because often contain manganese, barium, so the process of determination of silicon dioxide, in general to use potassium fluosilicate volumetric method is better. The following are two common methods of determination:

1, glue coagulation gravimetric method.

Weigh 1 gram sample of molten potassium hydroxide in a silver crucible.

It should be noted: manganese ore often contains barium, precipitated silicic acid in the condensed often mixed with a small amount of barium sulfate, silicon dioxide must be treated with hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid. The filtrate was isolated after silica was diluted to 250 ml for the determination of aluminum, calcium, magnesium, iron and titanium and other elements used.

2, potassium fluosilicate volumetric method

Sample with potassium hydroxide (or sodium peroxide) melted mention flooding, acidification. Nitric acid solution were added potassium chloride and potassium fluoride precipitated silicic acid, filtered and washed. In ethanol medium, the first standard solution titration with sodium hydroxide precipitate residual free acid. Add boiling water fluorine potassium silicate hydrolyzed to phenol red thymol blue as indicator, titrated with sodium hydroxide standard solution is obtained silica content.

Manganese, calcium, barium, magnesium and silicon dioxide not interfere with the determination.
