This paper focuses on the application of cationic starch / colloidal silicon dioxide retention system. Preliminary study on the amount of cationic starch, colloidal silica amount of cationic starch in contact with the colloidal silica slurry mixing time, pH value and water hardness test of cationic starch / colloidal silica system application effect. By measuring the retention of the slurry, to find the best conditions for cationic starch / colloidal silica particle retention system, applied to determine the optimum conditions of the program, studies show that: In this experiment, the cationic starch in an amount of 1% colloidal silica in an amount of 0.2%, cationic starch, colloidal silica slurry and the contact time was 60s and 30s, pH value of the mixed paste 9, the content of Ca2 + laboratory water slurry of 200mg / L when retention is maximized.

Silicon dioxide, often referred to as quartz, is a very common mineral.  It is found in many materials common on construction sites, including soil, sand, concrete, masonry, rock, granite, and landscaping materials. 

The dust created by cutting, grinding, drilling or otherwise disturbing these materials can contain crystalline silicon dioxide particles.  These dust particles are very small. You cannot see them. This respirable silica dust causes lung disease and lung cancer. It only takes a very small amount of airborne silica dust to create a health hazard. Recognizing that very small, respirable silica particles are hazardous, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation 29 CFR 1926.55(a) requires construction employers to keep worker exposures at or below a Permissible Exposure Level (PEL) of 0.1 mg/m3.
